Acts 2:3
“And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.”
We have both sound and sight. The sound of wind and the vision of fire, not literal wind or fire, but what sounds like wind, and what looks like fire. Wind represents God’s power, and fire through out the Bible represents God’s presence, so these symbols reveal God’s power and presence as the church is born out of this moment.

These tongues of fire reveal how God’s power and presence in us, should be a witness through us. We are to speak the good news by the power and presence of God in and through our lives. Our tongues can be used for heaven or for hell, depending on whose power we are fueled by. Taming the tongue, comes from the control of the Holy Spirit, and wind should set our fire ablaze only if we are speaking Truth. Father God, thank You for this clear sign, and these symbols from the very beginning of Your church, and the birth of Your Spirit in-dwelling Your children. Allow Your Spirit in me to set my tongue a blaze for You, to speak passionately and powerfully in the power and presence of You and Your Word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
