Acts 5:24
“Now when the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them, wondering what this would come to.”
The leaders are baffled at the fact that all 12 men have somehow escaped, yet the prison door was locked and the guards were all outside. This miracle does not pierce their heart but only baffles their minds. Even though this miracle does not change their heart, it gives opportunity for the apostles to go back to the streets and preach the Word of God, which is sharper than a two edged sword and pierces between the heart and soul.
Miracles don’t pierce
The heart
The Word of God
Cuts to the heart
We are to hear the voice of God, and not harden our hearts, but listen to His voice through His Word and enter into the rest He offers us. Father God, thank You for Your Word, the Truth of Your Word, the impact of Your Word, and the peace found in Your Word. Allow Your Word to be like the honeycomb to me today, as I ingest more of Your Word and allow it to be sweet to my lips, as I taste and see that You are good, in Jesus name amen.
