Acts 1:4
“And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me;””
The entire world revolves around not waiting, but taking what I want when I want it. The disciples are told the last thing they must do, and the last test they must pass is to wait. They are not to leave, or achieve anything but wait patiently for the promise of the Father, which is the gift of the Holy Spirit. We must abide with Jesus, so that the fruit we produce in our life is eternal, not temporal. This command was to prepare them to abide with Jesus after He ascends to the Father. From this point forward, they would wait on God through Jesus’ command to accomplish the Father’s will by the power of The Holy Spirit.
Advancing the
Kingdom of God
Is NOT achieving
But
Receiving
We are to abide in the Vine, and the disciples needed to wait for the Sap, the life blood of the Vine to accomplish anything spiritual. The gift of the Father is that the Spirit of God is IN us, not just WITH us. The power of God, His Spirit courses through our veins to give life to us and those around us. Father God, make me a good waiter. Help me to wait on You in every area of my life. Help me to not take for myself, and achieve, but wait for You and receive new strength, run and not get tired, walk and not become weary, but to mount up with wings like an eagle, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Actively wait
