Acts 2:38
“And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Peter has cut these listeners to the heart, then they ask what they should do, which is the conviction of the Holy Spirit from the Holy Bible. They are told one thing which feels like big steps of faith. They are to repent from their sins. If we believe Jesus to be God, the King of kings and Lord of hosts, then we will repent. The very next step is to follow Jesus into the water of baptism, so that the people around us know the inner decision we have made. It is disassociating from unbelief, and attaching yourself to Jesus publicly through baptism.
This can feel like so much, until we realize what God gives us in return for giving our life to Him.

We get the Spirit of the Living God inside of us! We are to give our life away, and then we receive the Spirit of the God of the universe in and now through our life. We cannot minimize this! Too often we amputate the Spirit of God from our “Christian” life. We must realize this gift, and allow our God to live through our lives. Father, thank You for this gift of Your Spirit dwelling in me. Allow me to lean on Your Spirit and be led by Your Word today. Compel me to unleash Your love through my life, so that those around me glorify You above all else today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
