Acts 1:19
“And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.”
Their own language was Aramaic. Jesus read Hebrew, spoke Aramaic and wrote Greek. (Fun fact)
The people of this area knew that Judas had received money to betray Jesus and he, Judas, felt guilty so he threw the money back at them. So the priests purchased the potters field with the blood money. This is also where Judas died and poured out his blood, therefore being called the field of blood.
Judas’ blood could not
Even save him, but
Jesus’s blood poured out
Provided salvation for
All people
The blood of a sinner cannot save a single soul, but the blood of Jesus, perfect and righteous can save an entire world. Father God, I praise You that no one could take Jesus’ life from Him, but that He willingly laid His own life down, shed His blood for the sins of the entire world, and for me personally. Let me not forget this unconditional sacrifice, as I walk in Your ways today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Love unconditionally and sacrificially
