Acts 1:17
“For he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.”
Judas was chosen by Jesus to follow Him with eleven other men. He had such great opportunity to see the miracles of God, and hear the Word of God directly through Jesus. Although Judas was there when Jesus multiplied the fish and the loaves and fed 5000 people, he did not know Jesus could feed his hungry heart. Judas witnessed Jesus heal a man’s withered hand, but did not believe Jesus could heal his withered soul. Judas represents the greatest example of wasted opportunity in all of human history. This displays the dichotomy between selfishness and selflessness
Judas displays
selfishness
Jesus reveals
selflessness
Jesus knew from the beginning that Judas would never by grace, and through faith be saved. Jesus knew Judas would betray Him with a kiss, but Jesus loved Judas so much that none of the other disciples ever expected Judas to betray Jesus. That’s amazing love! Father God, thank You for being completely selfless. Help me to rid myself of selfishness by leaning on Your Spirit, remaining under the authority of Your Word, and walking in rhythm with You today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Be selfless today
