Acts 1:13-14
“And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James. All these with one accord…”

With one accord, does not mean they were in a little Honda… they were of “One Mind.” It is tough for two people to agree wholeheartedly on anything, much less all of the disciples listed above and more. These men and women had been knit together in heart and mind for this one purpose from Jesus’ last words. They are to wait!

Waiting is never passive
Waiting is always praying

This prayer meeting must have been awesome to be at. We learn in Luke that they are praising in the temple and praying in this home. A concert of praising God, and praying to God. As followers of Jesus, we must learn how to wait! This obedience to wait, reveals these men and women were not self-willed people trying to build their personal empires, but a Christ-centered community committed to the cause of Jesus Christ. Father God, help me to wait better, to be patient, and lean on Your timing in all things, from big to little. Allow me to rejoice in hope, to be patient in tribulations, and constant in prayer, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Pray while I wait
