Acts 2:29
“Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.”
Peter is standing in the temple area, and speaking. I have stood in that temple, and from the temple you can turn and point to the top of Mount Zion, where David’s bones were buried. It would have been obvious that from Psalm 16, David was not just speaking of himself, but it was a prophecy of the One to come, Jesus Christ who would know no sin, or corruption.
David is not speaking
Of himself
But a Savior who
Would not know sin
Peter is connecting dots in the minds of this Jewish gathering, by reminding them of Scripture and pointing them to our Savior. This is step one of five for Peter and his proclamation about Jesus being the risen Savior of the world, and one way we can lead people to Jesus in our own life. Father God, help me to understand Your Word, so that I can do the same, point people toward Your Word, and then point them towards Your Son, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Use God’s Word to point people to God’s Son
