Acts 7:37
“This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers.’”
Stephen is not being subtle here. “This is the Moses” – is Stephen bringing up the fact that the apostles already applied the words of Moses here, “God will raise up for you a prophet” directly to Jesus. Meaning Moses looked forward and saw the Messiah, and the Messiah they were waiting for already came, and they murdered Him by hanging Him on a cross. By not listening to Jesus they were disobeying God and treating not only Jesus, but Moses, with contempt. Stephen’s argument is clear, Jesus is greater than Moses, and Moses said so himself.
The Builder of the house
Has more honor than
The house itself
These men heard Jesus, and deliberately turned a deaf ear to Him, but they (we) have not heard the last of Him, Jesus will return again! Father God, thank You for opening my ear to You, and my heart to Your Word. Allow me to hear Your voice today, as I move with Your Presence through out my day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
