Acts 4:27
“for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,”
These individuals and groups mentioned above were gathered together against Jesus. They all were so mad at Jesus, that even though these people and these groups did not get along, they came together to kill Jesus. The saying is true, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Peter uses a unique word that is translated servant. “They were gathered together against your holy servant.” This word for servant really means the “Servant Son”, and is used twice in Isaiah to speak of the coming Messiah. This combined with the previous verse shows that Jesus was carrying out God’s plan from long before, perfectly
as a Servant and the Son of God.
We must rise above sight
And see the hand of God
Which shapes all of the
Present and the end
No matter what is happening in our world, or the neighborhood we live in, the Spirit of the Servant Son is carrying out God’s plan perfectly. Nothing can snatch God’s perfect plan from His great hand. This brings peace, hope, life and assurance to all of us. Father God, thank You for the hope of the future found in Scripture that brings peace to my heart for this moment. Allow me to rise above what I see on this earth, recognize Your hand, and allow it to shape my heart, and reality, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
