Acts 7:51
““You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.”
Stephen takes the sharp knife of the Word of God, and starts filleting their spiritual heart., the control center of all humans. He turns the corner and now starts to indict them. Stephen once the accused, now becomes the accuser. This scene will soon turn violent, and Stephen must know what’s about to happen, as he calls out their sin in public. These people killed Jesus, the Messiah they had been waiting and looking for. Now they are ready to murder again. These men have allowed their sin to callous their hearts over.
Hard hearts are
Hard to reach
Through out Israel’s history they refused to listen to God, submit to His leadership and obey the Truth. They would not bow their necks to Jesus, but stiffened up and marched forward, hardening their own hearts to the love of God. Father God, keep my heart soft, help me to not stiffen my neck, but continually bow my head in reverence to You. Help me to elevate You and Your name above any desire I might have in my flesh, and compel me to honor You with my heart, mind, lips and actions, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Bow my head
