Acts 7:11
“Now there came a famine throughout all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction, and our fathers could find no food.”
Stephen now identifies himself with them, by saying, “our fathers.” This showing our need for food, and the lack of control we really have over getting the food we need. Even now in this country we can see how it would not take much to contaminate food, or have a food shortage, or for prices to go beyond what we are willing to pay for certain food. The idea is that God, our God is fully sovereign, even though we feel in control of our lives, we really are not that far from desperation. The famine “came” through out the land. This was not mother nature but Father God. We are not to
Solute the sovereignty
Of God, but
Submit to His sovereign
Hand over everything
There is not one single thing outside of God’s sovereign hand, and we must recognize this through feast and famine inside our own lives, and glorify the God, that turns what was meant for evil into His goodness within His plan. Father God, I recognize that You are sovereign and You at the same time are good, and perfect. Help me to see all of my obstacles today as Your sovereignty, and to see the good coming at me from Your plan, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
