Acts 4:3
“And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.”
The religious leaders come down to hear Peter and John speaking and after hearing them preach the resurrection, they forcefully take control over them and put them in jail for the night. THIS IS A WAR OF POWER! Peter, by the power of Jesus, just healed a beggar who was lame in his feet. The Sadducees use their power and throw them in jail, because they are afraid of their authority and power being taken away, so they play the power card and put them in jail. Notice that neither Peter or John argue with this, even though their is no law against what they were saying, but willfully submit to the authorities, realizing this is God’s will.
Serving is
Submission
Neither of them fight back, or try to use the power that just healed a man lame in his feet, to exercise power over the police. They submit to their authority to serve God fully. They are going to get a platform to preach that they would not have been able to get if they were not in jail. Father God, this is a tough Truth to swallow, but help me to submit to You, and every human institution, whether a king, or governor as someone sent by You for the punishment of evil. Allow me to fully submit and serve Your will, so that in doing this, it will silence the ignorant and foolish. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Serve through submission
