Acts 2:24
“God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.”

This is the central theme to Peter’s message, and the climax of human history. Without the resurrection, Jesus would have been another good man proclaiming His Kingdom, but rising from the dead is the proof, that all Jesus said and did was from God. Death could not hold Him! Peter’s point is simple:

You crucified Him
God raised Him
You killed Him
God removed death

God the Father raised God the Son from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the Truth every person on earth must face. I was born a rebel against our good God. My sin put Jesus on the cross, but my evil acts could not hold Him in the grave, because God’s love is far greater than all the sin in the world. Father God, thank You for reaching into my heart, grabbing ahold of my soul, opening my eyes to Your glory, changing my heart, opening my mind, removing the scales and saving me from the sin that was strangling my life, making me whole and then running my life from that point forward by the hand of Your Spirit in the power of Your grace. Compel me to live by grace today, and walk in the Spirit of our Living Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
