Acts 1:18
“Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.”
Well this is a graphic description of what happened to Judas, the man who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Judas felt so much guilt from his secret sin, that he decided to take his own life. Luke, the one writing this book is a medical doctor, and uses “reward” in a contrasting way to show us the difference between sin and righteousness.
We see here there is a
Reward for
wickedness and a
Reward for
righteousness
Without Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we all will be “rewarded” for our wickedness and sin against our Holy and Just God. But with Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we gain eternal rewards. For on that day, our final day, we can be glad and leap for joy, because our reward is in heaven. Father God, help me to walk in Your righteousness, loving my enemies, doing good and lending to all people, with no expectation of anything in return, so that on that day, my final day, my reward will be great, as I walk in eternity with You Lord, the Most High, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Give righteousness
