Acts 4:1
“And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,”

The priest, the captain of the guard and the Sadducees come up to Peter and John to stir up trouble. Chapter four begins the persecution of the church. Up to this point it seems as if God is doing all He desires through Peter and John, and there is nothing to stop God. This chapter marks the battle we have as followers of Jesus, and the persecution we all experience as servants of the Most High. Persecution is: hostility and ill treatment because of one’s belief. (In this case, following Jesus) THIS CHAPTER SHOWS US HOW WE SHOULD RESPOND TO PERSECUTION.

Persecution comes
In waves, but God
Has His hand on
The pulse

Whether the waves are small or like a hurricane, we are certain to face persecution for our faith. How we handle persecution matters. We are given the Word of God as our compass, and the Spirit of God as our guide. Father God, You are my Comforter through the storm, my True North at all times and my rock when everyone seems against me. Allow me to learn from this chapter specifically how to handle persecution, as Your Word shows me the way, and Your Spirit shepherds my heart and mind, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Place the Word at my feet, and be led by His voice
