Acts 7:17
““But as the time of the promise drew near, which God had granted to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt”
Stephen’s defense is a lot less about his own life, and more about opening the hearers ears to the promises of God. Revealing that our God is a faithful God, who keeps His covenant to the thousands generation. Israel had become content in Egypt, and were not seeking to worship God. Our Lord always keeps His eye on the clock, and at the exact time, in His perfect way, releases the pressure on our life, and sets us free from bondage.
Our God is
Perfect and good
In making His promises
And keeping His promises
God used the Israelites growing in numbers to move them out of Egypt, and into the promise land. God in His sovereign way uses our circumstances to glorify Himself and proves Himself good in our lives. Father God, thank You for being proactive and not reactive to circumstances. Help me to trust Your timing and Your way, rather than squeezing out of Your Will with my selfish ambition, or my desire. Help me to stay with You and allow Your promise made, become Your promise kept, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
