Acts 2:30
“Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,”
Peter continues to tactfully move through his argument using this Psalm of David as his proof that Jesus was who He said He was. David moves from patriarch to prophet as he now speaks as the mouth piece of God. David knew God promised him that the Messiah would come through his bloodline. All David is doing, is saying what God had already promised him. Peter’s argument points to the resurrection and that this was God’s plan all along.
Christ was crucified
Not crowned as King
The plan seems to be thwarted, but the grave could not hold our God, King and Savior! The resurrection was all part of the divine plan, and Psalms 16 looks forward in great hope to that day. Father God, thank You for keeping Your Word perfectly every time. Allow me to trust in Your promises, and walk as if they have come to pass, well before they ever do. Give me hope that does not disappoint, and the grace to walk in faith by the empowered of Your Spirit today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
