Acts 5:26
“Then the captain with the officers went and brought them, but not by force, for they were afraid of being stoned by the people.”
The captain of the guard and his officers are afraid, afraid of man. The apostles are not afraid at all, and go with the officers. They must be remembering Jesus telling them they would be brought into court to testify and to not worry, but fear God, and not man. They are not to worry about what to say, and to be in awe of no man, his power over their life, or position to threaten them. I am certain they are leaning on the Spirit of God to give them utterance, and are standing on God’s Word to protect them, but even if not, they will be His witness to the end.
They hold fast to
Jesus’ words
And
Jesus’ words
Held fast to them
The caveat for us, is that we must be in His Word to remember His Word. For the Spirit to remind us what to say from God’s Word, we must first read it, study it, memorize it, and meditate on it. Father God, thank You for the passion You have given me for Your Word, the desire to read it, and memorize it. Help me to meditate on Your Word today, and speak Your Word when called upon, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
