“and laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.”
This was not given as tribute to the apostles but for the good of the community. Their former spiritual leaders were not trust worthy enough to take the tithe and offerings and use it in godly ways. These Apostles not only relying on the Spirit to preach, but to produce good works. This “distribution would have been a logistical nightmare, and would take a lot of time, energy and planning to do this well. Grace is for the story, strategy, system, and structure of ministry, and we must rely of God with the 10,000 foot view and with boots on the ground. Father God, help me to seek Your face and hand in each situation. Not just the big stuff but the mundane as well. Help me to preach, to shepherd, answer emails, pray with people, and all the ins and outs of life. Do not let me take a single step with inviting Your wisdom into my mind, and heart to permeate every situation, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: declare my dependence by praying more
