Mission
Our Vision
To Be with Jesus – Become like Jesus – Do what Jesus did
Our Mission
Lead people to Worship, Walk, Work and Witness together in Jesus
Worship
Jesus said, “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” (John 4:23) We want to be people who are dedicated to worshiping Jesus. We want to carve out time daily to be alone for prayer and Bible reading. Our goal is to preach the Word of God unapologetically and grow people up in their personal understanding of God’s Word, so that their hunger for God’s Word continues to cultivate their heart for worship. We want to prioritize our week to walk with each other as we pray and study His Word together.
Walk
Jesus said that “all people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). We want to be the kind of people who love each other deeply and show this by our sacrifice. We seek to live out the “one another” commands in Scripture. Our goal is not merely to get along but to love each other to the extent that Christ loved us. We take time each week to eat together, pray with one another, and share our lives within community. It is in the routine rhythms of life shared together, that we are transformed into Christ likeness.
Work
We want our people to become fully trained for greater works of service. We believe that all believers are called to be disciples and make disciples. We all come as consumers, then through worship and walking together in Christ we are transformed into contributors. The Holy Spirit has given each of us a gift that is to be used for building up the body. We desire our leaders to teach us how to lead and help us develop in character through their modeling and teaching. Our goal is that each one of us learn to be with Jesus, be like Jesus and do what Jesus did through serving inside and outside the church walls.
Witness
We want to be people with supernatural character, focused on sharing the gospel with neighbors and coworkers. We desire to be the kind of people who are not focused on survival or higher standards of living, but devoted to the mission. For some this will mean going across the world to share Christ, for others this means supporting those who have gone, and for all of us this means going across the street, our office and the lobby to share the gospel as a repeated rhythm of life.
Small Groups
South Holly is not just a church WITH small groups, we are a church OF small groups.
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building UP the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ… speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow, so that it builds itself up in love.”
[Ephesians 4:11-16]
Small Groups are the way in which we make disciples that make disciples. The Bible contains a message that is simple, hopeful, and yet so counter to our culture. We are called to live a life that is different from those around us because of what Jesus did: He lived a perfect life, died on the cross and rose again, proving to be God and having the very power over life and death. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a life worthy of the Gospel. We are called as followers of Jesus to strive for the faith of the gospel side by side. We do this in and through our Small Groups. We focus on leading the Small Group leaders to shepherd members in living out the fifty-nine “One Anothers” in Scripture. These actions are rooted in love that can only be administered through the power of the Holy Spirit.
