Acts 5:6-7
“The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him. After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.”
Ananias is dead because he lied to God, and wanted men to praise him for something he did not do. Three hours go by and nobody has told his wife, because God is in charge of this warning to the infant church. She came in undoubtedly wanting praise for her gift, not knowing Peter knew she had lied. Part of hypocrisy, is the lie we tell ourselves, the worst part is the lie we believe.
Lying is always hurtful
It harms others
And we deceive
Ourself
It’s one thing to deceive others, but a whole other thing to believe the lie we tell ourself. Father God, search my heart and know me. See if there is any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way of Truth and everlasting, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
