Acts 7:53
“you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.””
Stephen is on trial for speaking blasphemy against the law, now Stephen turns the tables and accuses the Sanhedrin (legalistic spiritual leaders) of not keeping the law!! This language to “keep” was their role and responsibility. The soul purpose of their position and duty become a source of pride for them. They were not only to watch over the law, but they were to carry out the law in their actual lives, as an example to all Israel.
Pride makes
us artificial
Humility makes
us authentic
Keeping the law was meant to humble us, but if we are not humble, it easily can become pride in us. Father God, thank You for “the law” Your Scripture, and for the humility it brings towards me. Allow Your Grace to land on me, and impact me so that Your Law humbles me, rather than the opposite. Allow me to give justly today, all that I am and all that I have, to love mercy, and to walk in humility alongside of You today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Walk humbly
