Acts 4:26
“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—“
The early followers of Jesus set God’s Word at their feet, and allow God’s Spirit to guide God’s people in their prayers out loud together. Because of the events they witnessed, they recognize Jesus in the first part of Psalm 2. They see that the Jewish people, the gentiles and religious leaders, including the high priests Caiaphas and Annas, set themselves against Jesus, the Christ and awaited Messiah. The beginning of Psalm 2 is fulfilled at Jesus’ crucifixion, the end of psalm 2 will be filled full at Jesus’ triumphant return.
The first coming was
In humility
The second coming
Will humiliate evil
Jesus allowed Himself to be beaten, humiliated and hung on a cross. The first coming, Jesus veiled His glory. The second coming, Jesus will reveal His power. Our Lord was persecuted and tells us that as we follow Him, we will suffer persecution too. This opposition to Jesus, lead to persecution and death, that ultimately lead to Jesus’ resurrection.
His persecution
Had purpose!
Our persecution has purpose in the Sovereign plan of our Lord! Father God, I thank You for Your plan, and Your purpose. Help me to obey Your voice and fill full Your purpose and plan in each area of my life, no matter the opposition or possibility of persecution, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION: Don’t fear persecution
