Acts 4:8

Peter’s response to this treatment is astonishing! He is not thinking about himself and what might happen to him, his family or his work, but is being filled with the Holy Spirit. Peter did not fill himself with the Holy Spirit, but submitted to the Holy Spirit, The Spirit’s will and The Spirit’s way. This is done by celebrating God, confessing any sin, and ultimately capitulating to The Spirit’s plan. Being filled with the Spirit is not getting more of the Holy Spirit, we already have the fullness of the Spirit residing within us at salvation. “BEING FILLED” by the Holy Spirit for the apprentice of Jesus is not to

But for
The Holy Spirit
To get more of you

The Holy Spirit empowers Peter to not only be bold in this situation, but for Peter’s words to be controlled by The Holy Spirit. Being filled by The Holy Spirit is to submit to His will and His way. Father God, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit within me. Allow me to continually celebrate You and Your work in me, confess and unknown sin, and capitulate willingly to Your Spirit today, and each day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
