“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.”
Peter had sown the seed of the Word of God, and the harvest by the Holy Spirit reveals the church is born. About 3000 people are saved from this sermon. Those listening were convinced by the Word and convicted by the Holy Spirit. The step taken by the listener is astonishing, and this is an example for us.

They did not just hear the gospel, but welcomed the good news into their heart, which is a big reversals from when Jesus preached to them and we are told His own did not receive Him, and when just a few days before they were calling for Jesus’ crucifixion. Father God, I praise You for being an active God and not giving up on people, but compelling us to see You for who You are, and convicting us to follow You. Help me to see how faith and obedience are tied together today in my routines and creative time, so that I have faith in You and obey Your Word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
