Acts 7:46
[David] “who found favor in the sight of God and asked to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.”

King David looked at his palace and compared it to the tent that was built for God, and desired to build a better place for God’s dwelling on earth. The prophet comes back to David and tells David that God does not need a dwelling place on earth, nevertheless, because of David’s noble request God allows him to build a building, but this was never God’s intention, and God knew it would be temporary.

God has no need
Of a building
Because
God dwells
In His people

God allows David to build the temple, so that David’s house is established forever, not for God to have a place of residence on earth. Father God, thank You for taking up residence inside of Your servant. Help me to lean on Your Presence in and through me and be led by Your Word today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
