Acts 6:9
“Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen.”

“Then” begins this verse and is a term of contrast, contrasting what took place before this. Stephen, a man full of grace and full of the power of God was doing the work of God, and now people from all over the region stand up to dispute him. As soon as Stephen stands for Jesus, (the life and death of Jesus), opposition arises. We all are called to carry the mission of God, with our life and words, character and conduct. As followers of Jesus

We carry
The mission of God
As the
Messengers of God

Full of the Holy Spirit and filled with the power of God. There is always opposition to this, so we must be self controlled, persistent in the work, and full of the Holy Spirit, so we fulfill our role in Jesus’ Kingdom. Father God, help me to be filled up with Your Spirit, so that I can be self controlled, walking through hardship, doing the work of an evangelist, and filling full Your call on my life, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Filled up, and self controlled
