Acts 1:25
“to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.”

Jesus told the disciples in Luke twenty two that there would be twelve seats to sit and judge from, so the disciples knew they had to replace Judas and the way to do this was through prayer. Judas turned aside to go his own way. This language of going to his own place, reveals he never wanted the way of Jesus, and continued to play a part in this story until he realized he would not get what he wanted, and it made him mad enough that he betrayed Jesus.

Judas wanted enough Jesus
To be associated with Jesus
But not enough Jesus that
Would inconvenience him

If Judas was alive today, we would find him on the front row of church, singing fervently, clapping to the tune and shouting amen during the sermon, but never allowing God’s Word, God’s Spirit and God’s people to challenge him. Father God, thank You for the impact, inspiration, and call to the imitation of Your Word and Spirit. Do not allow me to stop at the impact or inspiration of Your Word and Spirit, although very important, but compel and convict me to move in step with You, along Your way and path to become more like You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Allow God in me to compel me towards Him and His way
