Acts 7:40
“saying to Aaron, ‘Make for us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’”

This heart problem is an issue. These people who are led out of slavery by the Living God as a pillar of cloud during the day, and by fire at night want to go back to Egypt and worship false gods. They have become so accustom to Egypt, that when they are set free, they desire slavery. This invisible God, and absent Moses are too much for them to bear, so they devise something from the work of their own hands, so their eyes can see it!

Doubt leads to fear
Fear is faithless
And conceives
Faithless action

This was the influence of the world they lived in! What is so alarming, was the speed at which they complain about God’s goodness, and the rapid forgetfulness of God’s faithfulness. We can fall into this trap quickly as well if we are not constantly thankful for God, and grateful for God’s generosity in our own lives. If we are not careful, we will give credit to our own hands, and discount the hand of God in and through our lives. Father God, compel my heart to be full of joy, so that my mouth constant rejoices in You. Help me to continually see You, and Your goodness, so that my heart is full of faith and gives birth to praise, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Praise God, even when I do not see God
