Acts 2:40
“And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.””
Don’t forget this preacher walked with the physical presence of Jesus, he heard Jesus voice in his ears daily, he watched Jesus’ activity. He was with Jesus personally everyday for three years, so when he says that he bore witness, this is what he means. “Save yourself” does not mean we have the ability to save ourselves, but that now they understand how they can be saved. They must wake up to the reality that who they are as a people group is perverse and wicked, because in their effort to move towards God, they have become selfish and self focused and become a crooked generation.

The language screams urgency! Don’t wait, don’t delay, don’t put off for tomorrow what can be done right now. Father God, thank You for saving me from myself. You saved me from my own thoughts that deceive me, from my own heart that leads me down a dark road, and set me on the path of righteousness through the person and work of Your Son Jesus. You have given me all I need and much, much more. Help me to give the greatest gift ever received away to everyone I meet along the way today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
