Acts 1:20
““For it is written in the Book of Psalms, “‘May his camp become desolate, and let there be no one to dwell in it’; and “‘Let another take his office.’”

Peter for the first time quotes Scripture for us in the New Testament. Peter applies the Old Testament to their current situation. From Psalms 109, Peter understands that God knew Judas would betray Jesus and take his own life, and that God already had a plan to fill his roles and responsibilities.

Peter interprets
The present
From past Psalms

Peter is able to do this because Jesus opened Peter’s mind and heart to this, just a few days before this. “Then He (Jesus) said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,” If Peter needed his mind opened to the Scriptures then I must need the same. Father God, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Continue to open my mind to Your Scripture, so that I can apply past Scripture to my present realities. Help me to be Scripture fed and Spirit led, to continually lean on Your Word and be led by Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
