Acts 7:59
“And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.””

Stephen’s last words are prayer! He cries out to God and starts speaking to God through prayer. He is not distracted in this moment, but living from the deep conviction in his heart, and what spills out of his mouth, comes from his heart.

The mouth speaks
What the heart
Is full of

What we allow in, or intentionally put into our heart (not the organ beating in our chest, but the control center of our life) comes out in our speech. Stephen is not too distracted to pray in this moment. How easily are we distracted in this life, with… life. Try having a few rocks hit you in the head, and see what comes out of your mouth. Stephen is staring death in the face, and prays. Stephen’s heart is full of the Words of Jesus, and says to Jesus, what Jesus said as He was drawing His final breathe while He, our Savior was being murdered. Father God, help me to not be distracted but focused, laser focused on You, Your will, Your Word, and Your way. Let my speech be from Your Word, as I fill full my heart with Your words today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION: Fill my heart full of God’s Word
